|
|
In the thread Who's telling the truth and who's spreading disinformation?, I'm glad to see people speaking up in support of the goal of a new and independent investigation of 9/11, or at least some means of obtaining further disclosure. In particular, I am very glad to see:
1) The following statement by Jon Gold:
| Jon Gold wrote: | | If "we are beyond the need for an empowered criminal investigation," then how do you expect to hold anyone accountable? How exactly do you propose we find out what exactly happened that day? Without accountability, then the criminality will continue. |
2) The following statement by JohnA:
| JohnA wrote: | i, for one, would like to subpoena Norman Mineta and NORAD officials - to find out exactly what DID happen that morning when we failed to intercept a wide-bodied jet flying into the most secure air space in the world.
i, for one, would like to subpoena each and every member of government who APPEARED to have inside information of the attacks coming. Willie Brown was told not to fly on 9/10?
i, for one, would like to subpoena every financial record of every company that appeared to engage in insider trading.
these - in my opinion - are PATHS towards legally actionable and responsible activism.
lets demand a clarification of the historical record. that's not a radical idea. no one can or should attack us for demanding clarity. it is the patriotic thing to do. |
3) The following statement by Nicholas:
| Nicholas wrote: | | A physicist talking about iron spherules in the dust is not bad to get curiousity up. A guy testifying under oath who was actually following the patsies before 9/11 and was told to stand down, or who planned the wargames and says they served as a cover for a set-up attack would be worth a lot more toward showing a conspiracy within the government. I ask myself, how do we get at that guy? Not without pressure on the people known to have been involved on the surface of the scam (as with the subpoenas John talks about), then no chance of getting at planners and perpetrators. |
4) And the following statement by YT, on page 2 of the thread:
| YT wrote: | | dc911truther wrote: | | I believe we are beyond the need for an empowered criminal investigation. |
Who the fuck is "we"?
Speaking as a person who lost someone that day - you're dead wrong. |
First, thanks to all of you for your statements in support of a real investigation.
There seem to be quite a few people who have despaired of the possibility of a genuine investigation, and who now seem to see the "9/11 Truth" as just a tool to promote other, larger political agendas. Some of these larger agendas I agree with, and others I don't, but, in any case, these agendas are different from the goal of an investigation of 9/11 - a goal which, alas, some people in the 9/11 Truth movement now consider to be unfeasible. But I'm glad that some people here still support it.
So now my question is: What, concretely, can we do now to proceed toward that goal?
People here have had various criticisms of the NYC ballot initiative. But, currently, it's the only effort of its kind, as far as I am aware.
Is there something else that can be done, now, that most people here would throw their support behind?
In the thread Is it worth petitioning for new investigations?, truebeleaguer suggested a petition, but then no one answered siddhartha's question as to who the petition should be directed to.
Do others here believe that some sort of massive petition drive would be desirable? Perhaps a revival of something along the lines of the Justice for 9/11 complaint? If so, to whom should it be addressed?
Or is another approach preferable? If so, what can we do now, concretely, to bring it into being?
Most importantly, is there something concrete, i.e. something we can actually do, that someone here will be inspired to begin work on organizing? At the present time, I personally don't feel up to launching something all by myself, but I really would like to throw my support behind something concrete. _________________ Diane
